I’ve always been involved in helping people learn. I started my career as the playwright and founding director of The Magic Story Players Theatre Troupe. This was a children’s educational theatre company. We were on the road for five years. That was fun, but also tiring, especially as I already had a good dose of imposter syndrome.
Eventually my self-doubt dragged me down. I didn’t believe the business could really succeed. So I got at job at the University of Sydney. There I discovered my passion for training and ‘one to one teaching’ (the term ‘coaching’ didn’t exist yet). I spent 15 years training and coaching university staff. Then I became a manager and my imposter syndrome went into over-drive. So I quit. I was stressed out by job interviews, so I decided todo my own thing. I set up a business called Metamorphosis Consulting. Three years later I changed the name (oh, the irony!) to Think Learn Succeed. Since then I have:
- Trained over 50,000 people across Australia
- Coached hundreds of managers and people helpers
- Designed more than 90 positive psychology courses
- Written a book, Difficult People Made Easy
- Produced over 150 YouTube videos
- Setup an online learning lab
- Stayed in business through COVID-19 by ‘pivoting’ to become a pandemic psychology expert (let’s hope I never need that skill set again)
I’m a lifelong learner, with these qualifications
- Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Social Anthropology
- Graduate certificate of Adult Education
- Master Practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)
- Trainer of Neuro Linguistic Programming
- Graduate Diploma of Applied Psychology (Counselling)
- Diploma of Positive Psychology
- A wicked sense of humor and the ability to turn misfortune into wisdom
